WOMEN’S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND LIVELIHOOD SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP

We advocate for building strong partnerships with development partners, private sector and public sector agencies in enhancing women’s economic-Social and Political engagement in development discourse in Kenya. This can only be possible if women are well equipped with requisite entrepreneurial skills accompanied by sound knowledge transfer.

In this program we endeavor to work with women at the community levels, helping women and youth form and register their groups into associations that can tap on available business opportunities such as 30% preferential procurement with government, tap on numerous devolved funds at National and County Governments. It is imperative that women identify the right income generating activities and are helped to put in place good business plans. This will go along away in alleviating poverty and improving nutrition at household levels.

ACCESS TO EDUCATION FOR GIRLS

Our priority is improving access to education for the child-girl in marginalized communities of northern Kenya. Many girls in northern Kenya are still far from realizing their dreams for education. We advocate for education for every child and will work toward partnering with institutions of learning and Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in realizing gender equity in education.

PROTECTION OF WOMEN FROM ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE

Violence against women has been defined by the UN as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life. To this end, we strive to put an end to this within our local community. Due to the sensitivity of these issues, we work hand in hand with the local security actors and train them on how to deal with victims of any kind of violence.

GOOD GOVERNANCE PRACTICES

In strengthening our Democracy as a Country, We work toward building strong accountable systems, and institutions of governance. Our role as a watchdog organization will ensure partnering and working with like– minded organizations, government agencies in: sensitizing communities on the need for inclusion, participation and ownership of development decisions, ensuring government policies are responsive and sensitive to community needs and address challenges facing society today to bring about good governance practices devoid of ethnicity, tribalism and corruption.

We will focus on service delivery especially at the County levels, and ensure citizens get value for money and quality services. Leadership is an integral part of this program and we will train more women to take up leadership roles either elective or nominated at National and County assembly levels and Government Owned Entities (Parastatals).Health is a governance issue and we will work toward strengthening knowledge base on women’s reproductive health rights, working with vulnerable women in society to mitigate the stigma, and improve access to ARVs, VCT services, Care and support for PLWHIV, creating awareness among youth toward Zero new HIV infections as well as mother to Child transmissions.

PEACEFUL AND STABLE COMMUNITIES FREE FROM CONFLICT

We focus and work towards Integrating women participation in building strong foundations for peaceful and prosperous communities in Kenya. The objective is to include women on issues of peace and security. Whenever, any section of society is faced with conflict women and children suffer most. Their voice too matters. We train women as peace ambassadors and community sensitizers, ensuring their motherly role in mentoring, socializing brings out the best in society. Transforming the character, behavior of our young persons in upholding the national values and principles of Nationhood, and patriotism is important to us.

SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT

Today, the impact of climate change is felt everywhere, droughts, floods, El Nino , unpredictable weather patterns are but a few of the effects of unsustainable environmental conservancy and adequate mitigation interventions. We, will work toward community initiatives toward a clean environment, mitigation on ecological challenges facing communities especially in emergency situations. Training and sensitization and policy advocacy will form part of our strategy in delivering on this goal, working closely with National and County Governments in meeting international obligations on Sustainable Development Goals.
